Goodbye RENT

It's official. RENT is finished on Broadway, and to say goodbye they filmed and are showing the last stage show in movie theaters across the nation. Some friends and I are going this Wednesday and I have a feeling it is going to be pretty emotional for me. RENT was the first show that really made me think about my own life and inspired me to be 100% ok with myself. It holds a very special place in my heart and I am sad to see it leave. Until the revival.

If you've never seen this show, GO SEE IT while you can!

525,600 minutes. 525,000 moments so dear.

The Flooding of 2008

So...I had a big surprise on the morning of my first day of class. Our condo was flooding. The pipes from the apartment above us were leaking, and then by the time anyone got around to looking at the problem they had burst, and now we are in hell dealing with the mess! We have had to find contractors who can fix the damage that is in between the sheet rock in our walls and in our ceilings, and our carpet and some linoleum has to be replaced. It has been a huge mess and a huge hassle and we haven't even began the construction process yet. FUN!

I just wanted to post some pics of what we're dealing with.

Flood 2008 is the nightmare of my life right now.

It's Called Integrity and Kindness People...Try It!

in·teg·ri·ty (n-tgr-t)
n.
1. Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code.
2. Honesty
3. Moral soundness

kind·ness (kndns)
n.
1. The quality of being warmhearted and considerate and humane and sympathetic

I don't claim to be perfect, in fact, I know that I am far from it. But what is with the lack of integrity and kindness now-a-days? I mean, we're not in high school anymore, being mean to someones face for shits and giggles is no longer appropriate behavior, it wasn't even OK to do it then, but at least I've learned that important lesson and I have matured past that. I am constantly bombarded by people who don't take responsibility for their actions. They make a rude comment, or act in a mean-spirited way towards another human being, and then act as if saying "I'm Sorry" or "I'm Just Kidding" in a condescending tone absolves you from your bad behavior. There is sarcasm (which I frequently bestow upon others) and then there is just plain, flat-out meanness which is a bunch of fuckery! There is no excuse for it anymore people. If I catch you pulling this kind of crap, I'm going to call you on it.
